LOS ANGELES (August 17, 2010) - Clinico (www.clinico.org) will open its 3rd state of the art, high quality, low cost, spay/neuter clinic located at the East Valley Animal Care Center at 14409 Vanowen St, Van Nuys, CA 91405.
A press conference and ribbon cutting ceremony, including clinic tours for media representatives will be held at the center on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, LA City Councilman District 6, Tony Cardenas, new LA Animals Services General Manager Brenda Barnette and other special guests will be in attendance to reveal this new resource to the public.
Following Thursday’s press conference, Clinico will host its Grand Opening Community event on Saturday, August 21, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Festivities on this day will feature a walk in clinic for dog owners, offering FREE vaccinations and microchips, while supplies last. In addition, visitors can book appointments for spay and neuter services for both cats and dogs. The day will also include music, face painting and giveaways.
Clinico spay/neuter clinics provide the highest quality pet sterilization services, at subsidized prices for low-income pet owners. Sterilizing a pet provides benefits for owners which include reduced risk of certain health issues, elimination of some nuisance behaviors tied to mating, and lower cost license fees. By helping to eliminate the birth of unwanted litters of puppies and kittens Clinico helps to reduce shelter animal intake, decrease animal euthanasia, and foster animal welfare throughout Los Angeles. Beyond spay/neuter, Clinico provides other services such as, pain medication for animals, flea and tick treatment, ear mite treatment, vaccinations, rabies shots, FelV FlV testing for cats and microchipping services on a walk in basis from 10am – 4pm each day.
Clinico employs highly trained veterinary staff and uses leading-edge equipment to provide its safe, reliable and affordable spay and neuter services. Moreover, Clinico accepts vouchers and coupons from other organizations, such as Los Angeles Animal Services, to further minimize sterilization costs. This assistance to low-income families can make a tremendous impact on pet sterilization in communities, particularly as the global economic downturn continues to impact Los Angeles.
Substantial funding for this newest Clinico location is generously provided by PetSmart Charities® as part of their landmark Spay Los Angeles initiative. Additionally, thanks to a grant from Found Animals, Clinico will offer FREE SPAY AND NEUTER SERVICES for Cats, Chihuahuas, Chihuahua Mixes, Pitbulls and Pitbull Mixes to pet owners who reside in zip codes 91331, 91335, 91406 and 91605 for a limited time.
“Clinico is thrilled and privileged to open its 3rd spay/neuter clinic,” noted Wendy Asman, Executive Director of Clinico. “Sterilization is absolutely critical to the maintenance of shelters and to overall animal welfare, especially in an urban environment such as Los Angeles. As we help low-income families spay and neuter their pets, we make our community a better place for everyone,” she added.
