Pacifica KPFK Elections 2007 Timetable
June 1: Registrars at each station (appointed by General Managers) begin recording all volunteer hours worked to determine who will be considered "Unpaid Staff" voters
July: Bylaws Amendment carts begin playing twice a day on each station for 60 days
July 25: Nominations open for Local Station Board, all programmers, staff and management to sign copies of Fair Campaign Provisions, 24-hour sound-check recording begins for the purpose of detecting on-air violations of Fair Campaign Provisions
July 25: Broadcast of carts begins promotion of station election:
(1) Voting eligibility membership promotion (to run through August 31)
(2) Candidate recruitment (to run through September 25)
August 1: Preliminary list of Unpaid Staff voters to be posted prominently at each station
week of August 20-24:
August 24-31: Play new cart announcing date of record that closes eligibility for voting
August 31: Date of record for new members - subscriptions paid and postmarked by this date (beginning September 1, 2006) are included in voting membership
September: Pacifica National Board and local Assemblies of Delegates meet to consider proposed Bylaws Amendments
September 1: Semi-Final list of Unpaid Staff voters posted prominently at each station
September 15: Final date for challenges to Unpaid Staff list to be brought to LES
September 17-25: Play cart promoting September 25 petition signing party at the station
September 25: Nominations close, deadline for mandatory written candidate statements
September 25: Petitions received by Local Election Supervisor at station until midnight,
candidates sign up for time slots for recording 60-second candidate statements
September 26: Petition signature verification begins, ballot pamphlet layout continues
September 26-November 15: Campaign period including on-air and community forums
October 1- November 10: Run carts explaining/debating proposed Bylaws amendments
October 1-5: First round of on-air candidate forums (prior to Fall Fund Drive)
October 15: Ballots mailed to Pacifica members
October 16-31: Play cart telling members to look for ballot in the mail
October (from end of fund drive)-November 10: Candidate statements air after each program, in rotation to assure equitable exposure, with broadcast date/time logged
October 29-November 2: Second round of on-air candidate forums
November 1-15: Play cart explaining what to do if one does not receive a ballot
November 6-10: Play cart reminding listeners to mail ballots to meet December 11 deadline
November 11-15: Play cart promoting December 11 ballot drop-off party at the station
December 11: Local Election Supervisor will issue replacement ballots, receive drop-offs at the station until midnight
December 11: Election supervisors and witnesses determine if quorum has been met, vote count scheduled
December 11-15: Intensive promotional efforts to attain quorum if it was not yet met
60-minute on-air forum with elections supervisor about elections, one month close of nominations, date of record for new members, etc.
December TBD: Vote counts announced, Elections Supervisors begin preparing final reports
