The Scholars’ Circle Returns to Sundays at 12:30pm on KPFK 90.7

March 9, 2012 – North Hollywood, CA. Pacifica Radio KPFK 90.7 announces the return of The Scholars’ Circle to the Sunday public affairs line-up, delivering analysis by a roundtable of academics and hosted by Maria Armoudian, herself a political scientist and author of Kill the Messenger: The Media's Role in the Fate of the World.

The Scholars’ Circle is unique among public radio shows for its format and focus. Each week Armoudian convenes some of the sharpest minds in academia to explain the intricacies of today’s political, social, economic and environmental issues. The historical context of current affairs in a long-form radio format brings to listeners an exceptional educational radio experience.

Says Armoudian, “We look at the history and the evolution of ideas; the incremental and critical thought; the phenomena behind what has led us to where we are, and possible solutions to big issues. I learn something new in every program, and I try to pass that on.”

The Scholars’ Circle airs Sundays at 12:30pm following Armoudian’s half-hour, The Insighters, an in-depth public affairs program on today’s pressing issues. It is part of a compelling Sunday schedule that includes Middle East in Focus with Don Bustany (9am); World Focus with Blase Bonpane (10am); Background Briefing with Ian Masters (11am); and Free Forum with Terrence McNally at 1pm.
