June 29, 2012 – Los Angeles, CA. KPFK 90.7 FM Los Angeles will air a one-hour special on Rodney King featuring an exclusive interview with Rodney King family members, on Friday evening, June 29, 2012 at 7pm PDT and online at www.KPFK.org. Margaret Prescod, morning drive-time host of “Sojourner Truth”, will talk to some of his close family members who will be speaking out for the first time about Rodney King’s life, legacy and their reaction to his death.

Rodney King died on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 19th. He will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery on Saturday, June 30th.

Rodney King became a household name after his brutal beating by the LAPD under Police Chief Darryl Gates, and the subsequent riots that followed after the officers were found not guilty. The riots, which have come to be known as the L.A. Rebellion of 1992 by many, was the largest urban uprising in the history of the U.S.
