Our central theme is “the assault on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King”. In anticipation of the upcoming national and international commemoration of the birth of Dr. Martin Luther King we will have a presentation by Professor.Manu Ampin whose master thesis “The Revolutionary Martin Luther King Jr is being expanded into a 2 volume work entitled the Martin Luther King "The Revolutionary " Professor Manu argues that that Dr. King is the most misrepresented and misunderstood leader of the 20ties century. Why ? Dr. Manu argues with ample facts that Dr. King in his search for a solution to the problems in the US and around the world addressed a number of critical issues among them : 1) nonviolence and armed struggle, 2) civil rights and human rights, 3) moral issues and structural problems , 4) reform and revolution , 5) protest and power. Unfortuanetly on each of these issues. Dr. Kings ideas, strategies and politicl activism are constantly mis-represented to the public through the careful omissiso and distorition of the primary sources on Dr. King. That is Dr. King himself.
Our music mix will include: Zap Mama, Herbie Hancock, Parliaments, Dub Syndicate, MIA, Horace Silver.
