Agenda
Hotep ! This is Dedon Kamathi with Freedom Now’s agenda, for this Tues. March 17, 2009 . We commence with Brotha Mateef will our Raising the Bars segment on issue relevant to our incarcerated prison population. We will follow with Dedon with our historical calendar to keep alive the spirit and struggles of bygone freedom fighters. We will proceed with James Petras addressing the recent victory of FMLN in El Salvador.James Petras a retired Professor Emeritus of Sociology at Bingham University SUNY New York is the author of such critically acclaim books as Rulers and Ruled the U.S. Empire, Bankers, Zionism and Militants, Barak Obama “America First Jewish President” and the Dynamics of Social Change in Latin America. He will provide a critical assessment of he recent FMLA victory and its relevance given the large El Salvadorian population in Los Angeles and the U.S. More importantly the increase rise of democratic popular elected governments throughout Latin America whose commitment to social reform, redistribution of wealth and the securing of their population labor and resources for their benefits is a serious challenge. A challenge not only of the economy of the United States but critically increasing the quality of lives of the people of Latin America especially given the no brained or regional units as a bulwark against Western Imperialism.
We will close out with an interview with Jeffrey Perry whose recent biographical published book Hubert Harrison “ The Voice of Harlem Radicalism 1883-1918” provide an insight into a buried political phenomena that was thee major driving force for the radicalism of Black Nationalist in the US which had a major impact on Marcus Mosiah Garvey’s UNIA & ACL as well as the Nation of Islam under Elijah Muhammad and Malcolm X.The impact of Harrison is even more relevant today given the conflict between President Obama as a “Race Symbol” and the class reality he represents.
Our music mix will include: Zap Mama, MIA, Hong Kong Dub, My Country Ties of Thee, Mavis Staples, el Vouch, and Djanka Diabata Diabetes.
So stay tune, keep your mind open and enjoy another journey into the land of Freedom Now and as always we stand ready for the Revolution.
