Agenda                                                                       Producer-Host Dedon Kamathi

Alafia this is Sista Zionne with Freedom Now’s agenda for this Tues April 28... Tonight we have a 2 part program. The Black Documentary Filmmakers West Co-chair Dave Massey will provide us an overview of their upcoming Day of Black Docs showcase. He will also provide us some insight into the unique issues facing Black Documentary filmmakers.

We will follow with Sista Abebe from the Cote D’Ivoire or in English, the Ivory Coast a West African country. The Cote D’Ivoire has been involved with an on going campaign to break from the grips of French Neo-colonialism. All too often our support, or identification with Africa follows the English speaking countries such as Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa but Africa is more than what the Euro-Anthropologist call Anglophone or English speaking. Sista Abebe will provide us with a brief historical and contemporary review of this the former jewel of the French Empire.

Brotha Mateef will provide the Raising the Bars prison segment and Dedon will present the African Drum Beat Historical Calendar. All of this in a music mix including: Zap Mama, Alice Coltrane,, Eddy Grant, Oku Okura,, Ericka Badu, Burning Spears, Mousa Diallo,Jr.Walker  and a unknown group dropping a piece on Obama.

So stay tune  for another  journey into the liberated zone  of Freedom Now.

And as always we stand “Ready For The Revolution”.
