               Agenda

Freedom  Now’s agenda for this Tues August 18, 2009 will bring to the radio airwaves for the Ist time a discussion of the ultra-wave movement. Ultra wave and related Sub-cultural youth tendencies were and are major cultural phenomena that is little known nor understood.  From the 1980 to 1990ties in Los Angeles among Africans it was one rebellious alternative to gang membership. These youth movements were and are major social phenomena. All too often we hear of the youth culture stereotypically being solely driven by or a gang banging culture. Tonight with the major players in the studio, we will review the Ultra-wave and other indigenous dance, graffiti and fashion resistances to the dominant European and gang promoted culture of Los Angeles with Brother G-Bone.

We will also have a statement from Rick Blocker the former President of the Black Surfing Association on the recent passing of  Monte Valentin in 20 + feet surf at the Newport Wedge.

Brotha Mateef will interview Shaka Al Thinin former inmate with George Jackson thee major driving force for the rise of revolutionary movements with the US prison system as a special tribute this Black August.
