Agenda
Alafia this is Dedon Kamathi with Freedom Now agenda for this Tues Dec. 15 ,2009. KPFK is in a fund drive mode but Freedom Now will have our typical programming with brief pitches to sustain our programming.
Tonights central theme is SNITCHING let me repeat Snitching. A newly released book Snitching - Criminal Informants and the Erosion of American Justice has received rave reviews from prisoners, defense lawyers, civil and human rights activist. This exposure has unmasked the massive assault on the US constitution and Universal principles of justice. We are honored to have Alexandra Natapoff a professor at Loyola Law school who has just completed the first academic study of Snitching and the use of criminal informants. Police, the FBI and prosecutors offer deals to criminal offenders in exchange for information. As with all social phenomenon under this capitalist system snitching has become extremely corrupted by values of money, promotions, racism over the value of justice. Cleary with the growth of the Prison Industrial complex convictions by any means necessary is critical to sustain the profitability of the corporate aspects of judicial system
In addition dangerous criminals are allowed to escape punishment and endanger the innocent and exacerbate tension between police and urban residents. This social destruction is another manifestation of poor social policy that creates poverty.
We will offer this newly published book “Snitching”as well as the CD “Let Freedom Sing” for a pledge of $75. We will also be supporting the Alexandra house . Moving Sista’s who have been victimized from emergency shelter to permanent housing.
Our music mix will include: Zap Mama, Doug Cairn, Watts Prophet, Jonkaroo dub, Cinematic Orchestra, Zepharan, Bob Marley , the Impressions with a clip from Malcolm X. We thank you and encourage your contribution to KPFK and Pacifica to sustain this most powerful national voice for the voiceless. As always we stand “Ready For The Revolution”
