                Freedom Now agenda for this Tues March 3 will present a speech given by Angela Davis at the Watts Labor Community Action Center on February 21, 2010 . Sista Angela’s presentation entitled  “The Past and  Present-  the continued struggle for Freedom.” addresses a number of topics including the Prison Industrial Complex, Hyper-surveillance by policing departments of African and Indigeneous peoples commuinities and a Duboisian critical review of African in America history.

    Sista Angela is the single most militant sista icon of the 60ties. Her political activism was born in Southern California and gained world wide notoriety when she was refused a teaching position at UCLA due to her membership in the US Communist Party. Angela  was target by the COINTEL program the counter intelligence program of the FBI for her support of the political prisoners called the Soledad Brothers . She was subsequent put on the FBI 10 most wanted list for the Soledad Brothers efforts at escape.. Later acquitted of all charges Sista Angela continues today to be militant activist.

          Brotha Deacon Alexander a former member of the Southern California Communist Party will introduce her contextually.

  Brotha Mateef will host the raising the Bars segment of Freedom Now and will provide an update on Mumia Abu Jamal and Brotha Torress, the last of the San Francisco 8 to be incarcerated.
       Dedon will present the African Drum Beat Historical Calendar.

  Our music mix will included Zap Mama, Creators Master Plan, Lee Dorsey,   Waberi, the Impressions and Trojan Dub.
