Freedom Nows agenda for this Saturday January 7, 2012 will commence with the African Drum Beat Historical calendar. We will follow with the Raising the Bars Political Prisoner segment with Sista Tandi.
Our 1st topic is an overview of the newly published book” Negro Comrades of the Crown” by Dr. Gerald Horne. Did you know that most Africans in the US, Canada and the Caribbean sided with the British during the so called Revolutionary war of US liberation from British colonial rule? More surprisingly after the US so called war of Independence we Africans continued to side with the British during the entire period of slavery against the newly founded US government? A most profound historical obscurity. So much for Crispus Attucks.
We will follow with Sista Eulalia Bernard the Malcolm X of Costa Rica. I recently returned after spending 8 days in Costa Rica and was amaze at the high level of consciousness of Africans in Costa Rica, from Kwanzaa to the Rastafarian Movement to the continued functioning of the UNIA Office of the Honorable Marcus Mosiah Garvey. I was fortunate to meet a 76 year of sista who is part of the historical forces that has sustained and developed Black consciousness in Costa Rica Sista Eulalia Bernard. She will be our very special guest addressing the African presence and struggle in Costa Rica.
Our music mix will include: Zap Mama, Kenney Burrell, Aggravators, Son De Chua, Patrina, Umalilia and Desonsa.
So stay tune and tell a friend and take note that this afternoon program can be downloaded and reheard for the next 90days at KPFK.org-Audio archives under Freedom Now and as always WE STAND READY FOR THE REVOLUTION.
