Alafia this is Dedon Kamathi of Freedom Now .Let me ask you this ? If Baraka Obama was White where would he stand in the political spectrum with the left being we the people, the unemployed, underemployed, workers, the middle class and on the same political spectrum, to the right the corporate, military industrial complex, ruling class. Where would Baraka Obama stand ? Left of Hilary Clinton absolutely but to the right of Ralph Nader, Koseneich, Edwards ! So what we have here is a campaign of form not essence. Does being Black automatically makes you progressive ? Yes he is a breadth of fresh air, a Black face instead of a White face, a outsider instead of a beltway insider but what is his social policy his foreign policy ? Progressive ? Bombing Pakistan ? Tax diverted aid to the HMO ? Africans should we rally beyond our psychological needs for a Black President in form. White people ? Do you have a psychological need for a Black president who in essence is a corporate, hedge fund puppeteer. Just food for thought here at Freedom Now.

Our agenda tonight is composed of two themes. We will address the historical case of the Scottsboro boys of Alabama with a music intro by Leadbelly. Nine young boys from 13 to 19 who were accused in 1936 of raping 2 White woman, one of whom would later recant. This case became the Ist International cause d’celebe world wide addressing the racist injustice systems of the US capitalist system. Acey Byrd from WPFW our sista station will proved the analysis of this vanguard campaign during the era of Jim Crow segregation.

We will conclude with an interview that I conducted with the recently deceased St.Clair Bourne the foremost Black Documentary film maker of the United States. His work focused largely on Africans in the US cultural figures such as Paul Robinson, Langston Hughes, as well as work with Spike Lee, Wesley Snipes among others. He produces and or directed more than 45 works including doc. For HBO, PBS, NBC, CBS, BBC the Sundance Channel and National Geographic’s. His docs are a mainstay in the arsenal of freedom educational materials for activist world wide. their social and political issues including
