MONDAY, JUNE 17

12-1  Jack Kornfield, "Awakening is Real: A  Guide to the Deeper Dimensions of the Inner Journey'

It might happen suddenly, like a flash of lightning. Or gradually, like raindrops filling a jar. Our universal and awakened nature, the Buddha taught, can emerge in calm or in crisis. And then, as our path deepens, we must learn to embody our vision as we navigate the unexpected turns of the mystery.
When we asked Jack Kornfield for the most helpful advanced teachings from his audio archives, he chose these eight essential sessions. With Awakening Is Real, here are just a few of the dimensions of the spiritual journey that you will explore in depth:
The archetypal stages of awakening common to all transformative paths, and how to overcome its greatest challenges and obstacles
How the universal virtues of the warrior-such as courage, sacrifice, strength, and impeccability-are as valuable for freeing ourselves as kindness and compassion
Profound insights hidden within well-known teaching stories including The Mahaparanirvana (the Buddha's last sermon) and The Journey of Nachiketa
"The Elephant's Footprint"-Why the Buddha considered mindfulness of our own mortality and death to be the core practice that accelerates and deepens all others.

3-4:30 Brene' Brown, "The Gifts of Imperfect Parenting"
'Raising Children with Courage, Compassion, & Connection'

Dr. Brené Brown's Ten Guideposts to Wholehearted Families
We all know that perfect parenting does not exist, yet we still struggle with the social expectations that teach us that being imperfect is synonymous with being inadequate. These messages are powerful and we end up spending precious time and energy managing perception and the carefully edited versions of the families we show to the world. On 'The Gifts of Imperfect Parenting,' Dr. Brené Brown invites us on a journey to transform the lives of parents and children alike. Drawing on her twelve years of research on vulnerability, courage, worthiness, and shame, she presents ten guideposts to creating what she describes as "wholehearted" families where each of us can continually learn and grow as we reach our full potential, including:

Cultivating worthiness in families-the knowledge that we are each always worthy of love and belonging
Vulnerability-the key to true connection
Engaging in creativity and play as a family
Practicing gratitude and joy in the home
Respect and hard work in a culture of "fun, fast, and easy"
"It's actually our ability to embrace imperfection that will help us teach our children to have the courage to be authentic, the compassion to love themselves and others, and the sense of connection that gives true purpose and meaning to life," states Dr. Brown. The Gifts of Imperfect Parenting is a practical and hopeful program for raising children who know that they are worthy of love, belonging, and joy.

Session 1 of 2 Nurturing Love and Belonging
Our greatest challenge.  Cultivating worthiness.  Understanding shame and guilt in our families. Parenting for shame resilience.  How were you parented?  Being vulnerable with our children.  Perfectionism and healthy striving.  Being brave enough to show up.  From Sounds True, 1 (800) 333-9185, http://www.soundstrue.com

The disappointing defeat of Prop 37 last fall in California (thanks to a massive industry disinformation campaign) sparked a national movement that has resulted in labeling bills getting introduced in about half the states.  But how did the small state of Connecticut make this happen?"

He was a Navy Seal during the latter phase of the Vietnam War, followed by a career in the World Wrestling Federation and then as a national sportscaster. In the early 1990s, Jesse began his political career, first as mayor of Brooklyn Park in Minnesota and then as governor of the state elected on the independent Reform Party ticket from 1998 to 2002.  Jesse has been an ardent supporter of Main Street Americans - when his state of Minnesota ran a budget surplus, he provided a sales tax rebate since the money belonged to the public. He is a leading critic of the federal policies that are morphing America into a police surveillance state.  Jesse has written several books including  "63 Documents the Government Doesn't Want you to Read".  His most recent publication is "DemoCrips and ReBloodlicans: No More Gangs in Government".  A conversation on the state of the nation, our surveillance state, and where this country is heading during Obama's remaining 3 years in office.

12-1 Dave Emory "For The Record  #576 Voteschwitz: So Near, yet so Farben"

Supplementing previous programs about the perils of electronic voting, this broadcast highlights the new proprietors of the Sequoia electronic voting technology. Previously run by elements connected to organized crime and the GOP, Sequoia was purchased by Smartmatic. Somewhat obscured by a tangled web of offshore companies, Smartmatic (and Sequoia's voting machines) are actually owned by a group of entities affiliated with the member companies of I.G. Farben, some established during World War II.

1-2 Glenn Greenwald, "The Surveillance State"

The June 2013 revelations of massive government spying should not really come as a surprise. Since Sept 11 there has been a steady drift to more and more state power, secrecy and totalitarianism all in the name of national security. Snooping, prying, eavesdropping, call it what you want the government is doing it on a scale never before seen. Sophisticated new technologies allow for more intrusions into our private lives. Beyond the ever present cameras, there is deep data-mining, nanosecond biometric identification and drone aircraft in the skies above. The invasive monitoring of public space and the simultaneous erosion of our rights has been largely a bi-partisan affair. State surveillance power, undermining basic freedoms in the name of protecting them, is growing relentlessly. The swelling domestic databases of the NSA probably contain your personal information including emails, text messages, and phone calls. And this burgeoning Orwellian apparatus has become a cash cow for corporations such as Booz Allen Hamilton. Comedian Stephen Colbert sarcastically observes, There are bound to be casualties in the never-ending war on terror and one of them just happens to be the U.S. Constitution.

Glenn Greenwald, a columnist for The Guardian, broke the story of Washington's widespread electronic dragnet. His exclusive interview with NSA contractor turned whistleblower Edward Snowden was an international media sensation. He is a lawyer and the author of How Would a Patriot Act? and With Liberty and Justice for Some. He is the recipient of the Izzy Award from the Park Center for Independent Media for his "pathbreaking journalistic courage and persistence in confronting conventional wisdom, official deception, and controversial issues." He also received an Online Journalism Award for Best Commentary for his coverage of Bradley Manning.

4-4:30  Timothy Mousseau   "Chernobyl, Fukushima and Other Hot Places: Biological Implications"

When the biologist, Professor Tim Mousseau, concluded this talk by showing heartbreaking pictures of the birds of Chernobyl and their tumors and birth defects, the physician and anti nuclear campaigner Dr. Helen Caldicott stepped up to the podium to thank him.

She said: "I want to pay homage to Tim Mousseau, who with his colleagues is actually endangering his life by going into extremely high radioactive areas doing pioneering work, which is going to change the concept of radiation exposure to humans. What is happening to the animals, the insects and the plants is going to happen to us."

Mousseau is a Professor of Biological Sciences at the University of South Carolina. For 13 years he and his scientific collaborator Anders Moller from the University of Paris, Sud, have done research in the most contaminated areas of Chernobyl. When Fukushima Daiichi exploded they began field work there as well. They study birds, insects, microbes, and plants at over 1,000 sites, creating the most diligent inventories of each study area and returning year after year. They found significantly increased rates of genetic damage in direct proportion to the level of exposure to radioactive contaminants.

Tim Mousseau spoke on March 11, 2013, on the second anniversary of the Fukushima Daiichi explosions at a Symposium at the New York Academy of Medicine. The two day meeting was organized by Dr. Helen Caldicott's Foundation, at nuclear free planet dot org, and co-sponsored by Physicians for Social Responsibility.

3-4  J. Krishnamurti "Fear"
To Krishnamurti, fear, like so much of the conflict and insecurity in human life, is the result of the insistence on a division between oneself and the world.  Those things of which people are afraid of are the products of thought:   loss of certainty, loss of self-expression or self-gratification.  Like thought itself, such fears are dependent upon the flow of psychological time. As with thought itself, he suggests that one might put an end to fear by developing an awareness which exists without thought and free of time.
