Global Village Tribute to revolutionary activist Don White this Monday June 30th 2008 10am-Noon

Join Maggie LePique and co-host Ernesto Arce this Monday from 10am-Noon on the Global Village as we pay tribute to the legendary activist Don White who passed away Sunday June 22nd at the age of 71. His death has left thousands grieving not only here in Los Angeles, but at the CISPES national office in Washington DC, and indeed in El Salvador, where members of the various social movements knew and loved him as a dedicated supporter of their cause. We'll hear revolutionary music from around the world and around the block all in honor of our companero Don White including Yolo Camba Ita- a traditional Salvadoran group, Los GuaraGuau- an activist group that used music as a catalyst for change. Alí primera- the revolutionary Venezuelan singer that reminded Latin Americans about the need for continental unity and the words of Simon Bolivar. Los Folkloristas- the traditional and popular Mexican folkloric group made up of UNAM University professors. Ruben Blades- the great Panamanian-born world citizen and extraordinarily gifted lyricist.American Icons such as Curtis Mayfield highly regarded as a pioneer of funk and of politically conscious African-American music, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and more artists and singers all dedicated to the movement for social justice and radical change. So please join us this Monday June 30th 2008 on the Global Village from 10am-Noon.
