From its beginnings as a modest program designed to expose rural children to the beauty of music, the Venezuelan Youth Orchestra System has become an important and exemplary social phenomenon that produces some of the most renowned musicians in the world, like L.A. Philharmonic conductor Gustavo Dudamel and Edicson Ruiz, the youngest player in the Berlin Philharmonic. On Wednesday July 21, 7:30 pm Skirball will have a FREE SCREENING of the movie "Ramblers, Roamers and Vagabonds."  Widely known in Europe for their joyful music, Parno Graszt spent two weeks in Rajasthan, India, motherland of the Roma people. There they met and played with local musicians, all the while tracing their roots and looking for familiar faces, customs, and melodies. Directed by Sandor Sillo.
