Film Independent at LACMA: Spotlight on Wim Wenders

Two films from the Oscar-nominated director of the 3D dance documentary Pina will be screened.

7:30 pm The American Friend
In Wenders' version of Patricia Highsmith's novel Ripley's Game, all of the hoods floating around terminally-ill picture framer Jonathan (Bruno Ganz) are played by directors in a seductive world where crime and art intertwine.

9:45 pm Chambre 666
In this 1982 documentary, Wenders esconced himself in room 666 at the Hotel Martinez in Cannes and conducted interviews with a series of directors from Jean-Luc Godard to Steven Spielberg, Monte Hellman to Rainer Werner Fassbinder.
