"Essensibility: A Performance of Essence and Sensibility"
An interactive dance show featuring Brazilian master dancer, Rosangela Silvestre, and myself at the Electric Lodge theater in Venice on November 13-15, 2009
This performance is marked by a unique synthesis of Afro-Cuban and Afro-Brazilian dance and music. Traditionally, each form retains an idiosyncratic vocabulary of rhythms, arrangements, movements, and use of space, while this contemporary performance is one of the first ever to create an integrated, intercultural dialogue between the two idioms. Through the use of intricate choreographic and compositional structures combined with improvised passages that literally "bridge" the two national forms, “Essensibility” becomes a truly interactive dance experience.
Producing this performance has been a labor of love, and I hope you will come experience the magic. I am proud to be involved with such amazing talent and working with Rosangela Silvestre is a dream come true. I hope to see you in a couple of weeks.
