Songs for Chile is a benefit for Earthquake relief in Chile. Moved by the devastating consequences of the February 27th, 2010 earthquake and the aftershocks and tremors that continue to affect Chileans today, Songs for Chile adds its efforts to those who are helping with international relief and aid. With millions of Chileans homeless there is now a rush to create semi permanent shelter before the winter rains and cold set in, bringing a new set of health problems and challenges.

 

In partnership with Operation Usa and the Chilean Consulate of Los Angeles as well as relief agencies in Chile, the funds generated through this effort will be channeled directly to those in need.

The event brings together a group of noted Los Angeles based musicians and artists, who are now collaborating through music and culture to raise awareness of the situation in Chile while raising funds and supplies. The steering and sponsorship committee of the event includes visual artist Dianna Cohen and musician Jackson Browne as well as others who have a history of aiding initiatives for social justice in Chile.

 

The event will occur at the Francisco Letelier Studio and at the home of Richard Draut and Kathleen Blakistone in Venice at 809 6th Avenue, on Apil 10th, 2010.

The properties are adjacent to one another. Chilean food and wine will be available.

A donation of $20.00 is suggested.

 

The musicians now scheduled to perform onstage include: Jaqueline Fuentes, Joey Lugassy, Jillian Speer and Carlos Torres as well as other musical guests.

The silent auction of art will include, William Attaway, Dianna Cohen, Claudia Latife Francisco Letelier, Lulu Stewart, Leonardo Ibáñez Valenzuela, Ivo Vergara, J Michael Walker, Gary Palmer, and other recognized visual artists.

 

Please join us for a memorable and powerful evening of music art and culture in enchanted garden settings and help Songs for Chile raise funds for the people affected by the earthquake.
