The December 13th edition of The Lawyers Guild Show will feature an in-depth interview between the show’s host, Jim Lafferty and author Martin Lee, about his book, “Smoke Signals.”
It’s an amazing book that covers the long history of pot use, its many, many health benefits (even some federal government doctors think it could end up being the “wonder drug”); and the legal and political battles around the drug’s use, with a particular focus on how former California Atty. General Lundgren worked with local and State law enforcement to undermine California’s legalization.
History Professor Douglas Brinkley says of the book, “I agree with Lee’s central premise that our marijuana laws are draconian. Every American should read this landmark book.” And the Boston Globe says the book, “recounts some of the most bizarre incidents in the history of U.S. intelligence.” Or, as author William Burroughs puts it, “An engrossing account of a period…when a tiny psychoactive molecule affected almost every aspect of Western life.”
