On New Years Day, the last day of Kwanzaa, a Sojourner Truth special on the the Ujaama Villages of Tanzania. The principles from the Ujaama villages were the basis of creating Kwanzaa an African American holiday.
Our guests include some of the people who helped to build the Ujaama villages, specifically the Ruvuma Development Association of Tanzania, also a supporter of the present day Ruvuma Development Association and Selma James who has written about the great experiment of African Socialism, what can we learn from it and how and why it was destroyed.
Join us to find out the roots on which Kwanzaa was based.
