Host Thandisizwe Chimurenga speaks with Drs. Melina Abdullah (Cal State L.A.) and Regina Freer (Occidental College) about the "womanist leadership models" of Charlotta Bass and Karen Bass, and their essay in the new book "Black Los Angeles: American Dreams and Racial Realities," by New York University Press in conjunction with the Ralph J. Bunche Center at UCLA.  Later, we are joined by Drs. Darnell Hunt and Ana Christina-Ramon of the Bunche Center who are the editors of the book "Black Los Angeles" and authors of the chapter "Killing 'Killer King':  The L.A. Times and a Troubled Hospital in the 'Hood."  Finally, we speak with Holly J. Mitchell, Executive Director of Crystal Stairs, who is running for the 47th Assembly District seat being vacated by Karen Bass.
