ISRAELI VIOLATIONS of INTERNATIONAL LAW
What Can Be Done?
Even before the current Israeli assault on Gaza, international legal experts considered the Israeli blockade of Gaza a crime against humanity and a violation of international laws and treaties. Now, serious questions are being raised about Israeli perpetration of war crimes. In today’s program, we will discuss the various avenues being pursued to hold Israel accountable for violations of international laws, treaties and conventions.
We will hear from three international legal experts to discuss the various options available to the international community and some of the steps that are already being taken:
Richard Falk, Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in the OPT
Francis Boyle, Professor of Law, University of Illinois
Lisa Hajjar, Chair of the Law and Society Program, University of California, Santa Barbara
Turning to what civilians can do, we will talk with Jonathan Rosenhead, one of the members
of the BRICUP (British Committee for Universities in Palestine) who recently sailed to Gaza
on the Free Gaza Movement boat, the Dignity.
