Mr. Gur is the founder and former member of the Human Rights Association (HRA) in the province of Van, Turkey. He served as the Secretary General of the HRA for four years, 1997-2001. With other human rights activists, Mr. Gur fought the violations of basic human rights, particularly the burning down and evacuation of Kurdish villages, torture, extra-judicial executions, disappearances, food embargo, forced/internal displacement, and arbitrary detention in Kurdish region of South East Turkey.
