THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE AND THE PSYCHOLOGICAL
EFFECTS OF DENIAL
EFFECTS OF DENIAL
The denial of the Armenian Genocide has created a schizophrenic existence in the republic of Turkey, and an identity of victimization among the Armenians, the effects of which are embedded in the collective unconscious of both communities. In commemoration or the Armenian Genocide, Radio Intifada will explore how an event which took place 95 years ago is experienced in the present by both Turks and Armenians; and strategies for dealing with the social and pschological effects of denial.
