US Supreme Court Strikes Another Blow to Human Rights Activism:
Holder v Humanitarian Law Project
This week's Radio Intifada explores the repercussions of the recent Supreme Court ruling again the Humantarian Law Project, exploring how this ruling and US foreign policy hampers the work of organizations that advocate peace, dialogue and human rights - and goes against the principles of the US Constitution and freedom of speech. Regardless of its intent, the court decision has profound ramifications for any charitable, economic, social, or political entity that has contacts with foreign groups designated as “terrorist” by the US State Department. What does the future hold in terms of new challenges to the law and what can be done to seek modification of the law?
Guests:
Ralph D. Fertig, JD, ACSW; U.S. Administrative Judge (Ret.), Clinical Professor, University of Southern California School of Social Work
David Cole, Professor of law at Georgetown University
Produced and hosted by Nyma Ardalan, SWANA Collective
