This week, Radio Intifada explores how artists of the Middle East are finding creative expressions of resistance through  music, film and multimedia.
Our guests are Alex Kalognomos, director of the ARPA Film Festival that aims to cultivate cultural understanding and global empathy, creating a dynamic forum for international cinema with a special focus on the work of filmmakers who explore the issues of Diaspora, exile and multi-culturalism. A strong emphasis is placed on ideals of independent thought, artistic vision, cultural diversity and social understanding.

Seth Koury, director of 'Soundsof Beirut'  a documentary that was filmed in Lebanon weeks after the conflict that nearly cast the country back into civil war as militias battled on the streets of Beirut. The film explores the upbeat atmosphere in Beirut through the influences behind the vibrant and diverse music scene despite the city's troubled past and uncertain future.

And, The Narcicyst, or Yassin Alsalman is The Iraqi-Canadian MC. He seeks solace in the rhythm and the rhyme, producing impeccably-crafted and stirring songs using Soul, Middle Eastern Funk, and boom bap Hip-Hop as sonic touchstones. In the process, The Narcicyst has become known as "an emcee's emcee", garnering national and international attention for his provocative stances on cultural demonization, war, love and justice. He is currently featured in a lead role in City of Life as an actor, and is working on a follow-up album to his critically acclaimed independent album The Narcicyst. Narcy, or Yassin Alsalman, is also a published author and poet, releasing a book on Araab Identity "Fear of an Arab Planet" and an upcoming novel.
