Andy Griggs, is a human rights activist serving on the steering committee of US Labor against the War, and as a liaison to various community coalitions. Andy currently serves on the board of the Los Angeles Palestine Labor Solidarity Committee (LAPLSC) which advoacates for solidarity with unions, university labor programs and human rights, peace and justice organizatons both in Palestine and abroad.
Hamid Khan, Executive Director of the South Asian Network (SAN), Los Angeles will offer us insight into local South Asian activism in the labor movement of Los Angeles. Tushar J. Sheth, Staff Attorney of the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AADELF), New York City, will discuss the South Asian worker's rights campaign in Louisiana where about 100 Indian workers walked off their jobs at Signal International, a Pascagoula shipyard in March 2008. We will also briefly discuss AADELF's South Asian Worker's Project initiative. www.aaldef.org
