False Paradigms, Forgotten Palestinians and “Free Speech:
Israeli “new historian” Ilan Pappe just completed a speaking tour of California, talking about the false paradigm of the peace process and the 1948 roots of Israeli policy. Original Radio Intifada/SWANA Collective member Sherna Gluck sat down Pappe for a wide ranging conversation about Israeli policy, his new book, The Forgotten Palestinians, and how he was forced out of the Israeli academy for his political views, including his support for the academic boycott.
Guest:
Illan Pappe is a professor of history at the University of Exeter in the UK, Director of the European Centre for Palestine Studies and co-director of the Exeter Centre for Ethno-Political Studies. An activist and prolific author, he is best known in the US for his groundbreaking book, The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine. He is currently completing an anthology on Israel, South Africa and the Apartheid Question.
Tune in to hear Illan Pappe, following the usual Radio Intifada news analysis with SWANA Collective member Hamoud Salhi and listen to the poetry and music of the forgotten Palestinians who are citizens of Israel.
