Iran’s New Crippling Sanctions: What is Next

Since July of this year, crippling sanctions imposed by the United States and the European Union have further targeted Iran’s oil as well as banks in China and Iraq for their financial transactions with Iran. The sanctions have hindered Iranian banking relationship with international community and have furthered a major decrease in oil imports from Iran as well and export of major supplied to Iran.As a result Iran is grappling with a devaluation and shortage of currency which is effecting its import of supplies of food, medicine, manufacturing products, raw materials and other economic necessities.
Today’s Swana Radio will be focusing on the state of the effect of sanction on Iranian society. We will be speaking with Dr. Kaveh Ehsani,  Assistant Professor of International Studies at De Paul University and the Co-Editor of the Middle East Report journal who has written extensively on Iran’s economy and politics.

Guest: Prof. Kaveh Ehsani

Produced by Afshin Matin, Farah Davari and Nyma Ardalan
