PART II - TURKEY: Legal

Challenge to Ruling Islamist AK Party

This week, we present the second of a two-part program on Turkey,

whose military rulers are Washington's staunch supporters and the recipients

of billions of dollars in US aid and arms. While the Constitutional Court

deliberated on shutting down the ruling AK (Justice and Development) Party

on charges of non-secular activities, the Turkish media is in a frenzy over the

investigation of Ergenkone, an ultra-nationalist clandestine group linked to the

Turkish armed forces.

In this second program, we will continue the discussion of Operation

Ergenekon, the AKP closure case, and the rise of neo-nationalist gangs in

turkey and their ties to Armenian journalist Hrant Dink's assassination.

Guests:
Kani Xulam, Director of AKIN (American Kurdish Information Network)
Ruken Sengul, Human Rights Activist and a PhD Candidate.

Produced and hosted by Nyma Ardalan, SWANA (South and West Asia and North Africa) Collective of KPFK
