Visions of the Future for Palestine

Dedicated to the memory of Mahmoud Darwish

This week’s Radio Intifada will feature the poetry of Palestinian Poet Laureate, Mahmoud Darwish, and will explore the vision of one country/one state in Israel-Palestine.

After a personal conversation with Michel Shehadeh on the meaning/impact of Darwish’s poetry for Palestinians in the diaspora, we will talk with Ali Abunimah about the logic of the one state solution, and then turn to Yoav Bar, one of the organizers of the historic tri-lingual (Arabic, Hebrew, English) conference held in Haifa this summer on the right of return/1state solution.

Michel Shehadeh, Executive Director of the Arab Film Festival, is a longtime activist and cultural worker. A former LA8 defendant, he served as the Western Regional Director of the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee.

Ali Abunimah is the author of One Country: A Bold Proposal to End the Israeli-Palestinian Impasse. He is a fellow of the Palestine Center in Washington DC and co-founder of The Electronic Intifada.

Yoav Bar is a member of the Palestinian movement Abnaa elBalad and one of the organizers of The Haifa Conference for the Right of Return and for the Secular Democratic State in Palestine
