GUEST:

Mitchell Zukoff, Author, Robert Altman, The Oral Biography

One of the most influential, prolific, and pioneering directors in cinema was Robert Altman.  “Nashville,” “MASH,” “The Long Goodbye,” “Brewster McCloud”, “Short Cuts,” “McCabe & Mrs. Miller,” among others, left an indelible mark on cinematic history and the American psyche.  Mitchell Zuckoff, the author “Robert Altman, The Oral Biography” talks about the man, the legend, and shares his insights about one of the most revolutionary figures in Hollywood.  Much beloved, often reviled, always controversial, Altman was truly a maverick.  Zuckoff’s biography includes interviews with family, colleagues, admirers and detractors.  We discuss Altman’s originality, his improvisational approach and his of actors and film, and hear from the Altman himself via audio clips from the 1973 San Francisco Film Festival.
