PACIFICA PERFORMANCE SHOWCASE/ARTS IN REVIEW

AIRDATE:  02-26-10, 2:00 – 3:00 pm

HOSTS:  Special Pledge Drive Edition with Donna Walker, Julio Martinez

GUESTS:

Actor Brian Geraghty ("Bobby," "Hurt Locker", "Easier With Practice")

Writer/Director Kyle Patrick Alvarez ("Easier With Practice")

In this special 1-hour pledge drive edition, we join forces with Julio Martinez of “Arts in Review” to encourage support of arts and culture programming on KPFK.

Actor Brian Geraghty, currently starring with Martin Sheen and Frances Conroy in “The Subject Was Roses” at the Mark Taper Forum, discusses the opportunity to work with such stellar actors in this revival of Frank Gilroy’s 1964 Pulitzer Prize-winning play of family relationships.  We discuss that along with his recent breakout performances in the highly acclaimed, Academy Award nominated film, “The Hurt Locker” and the newly released indie film “Easier With Practice.”

“Easier With Practice”, a “quietly provocative love story,” is writer/director Kyle Patrick Alvarez’ feature film debut.  It screened at this year’s AFI Film Fest to rave reviews.  In a brave, honest, and insightful performance, Geraghty plays fledgling author, Davy Mitchell, who discovers phone sex, along with the challenge of relationships, communication, intimacy and connecting in this modern world.
