Shridar Steven Silberfein, Producer and editor, of “Amma: River of Love” talks about the film about the Indian Holy woman some call the embodiment of the Divine Mother, the feminine aspect of love. Says Ram Das, “Amma’s darshan nourishes a deep hunger of the heart for the path of devotion in the West.” Known for her humanitarian work, this life story charts her childhood beginnings to her mission and work to heal humanity, by calling in which “Service to the needy is service to God.”
GHAFFAR POURAZAR, a Brit of Iranian descent, was the first Western to be a member of the Beijing Opera. Studying intensely in China over the course of 18 years, Ghaffar is a living ambassador for the art of the Beijing Opera through a demonstration of costumes, makeup, story translation, most recently performed at the International California Theatre Festival. Filmmaker Brigitte Berman talks about her documentary “HEFNER: PLAYBOY, ACTIVIST, AND REBEL.” The iconic founder of “Playboy” magazine, was also a social activist for Civil and abortion rights, having made the “enemies list” of the Right, he supported many blacklisted artists, was a jazz aficionado and founder of the Playboy Jazz Festival, standing up to and revealing hypocrisy and enlightening sexual attitudes of the 50’s and 60’s with his Playboy empire.
