Emily Bergl, Jeffrey Donovan and Shirley Knight star in
“The Grapes of Wrath”
L.A. Theatre Works’ Radio Theatre Series will air The Grapes of Wrath, written by John Steinbeck, adapted by Frank Galati, directed by Richard Masur and featuring Emily Bergl, Jeffrey Donovan and Shirley Knight. The broadcast can be heard locally in Southern California on Sunday, November 25 from 8 -10 pm on KPFK 90.7 FM in Los Angeles (98.7 FM in Santa Barbara, 99.5 FM in Ridgecrest/China Lake and 93.7 FM in Rancho Bernardo/North San Diego), and can also be streamed on demand at www.latw.org.
Driven by the rhythms of country fiddles and campground guitars, this Tony Award-winning adaptation tells the compelling story of the Joad family's trek from the Oklahoma dust bowl to the fields of California during the Great Depression. The broadcast includes archival recordings of songs and stories recorded in Depression-Era migratory labor camps, excerpted from the radio documentary “Voices from the Dustbowl,” part of the radio series “Lost and Found Sound.”
