L.A. Theatre Works’ Radio Theatre Series will air The Rose Tattoo, written by Tennessee Williams, directed by Richard Masur, and featuring Anthony LaPaglia and Mercedes Ruehl. A poor Sicilian widow is raising her only daughter in post-war Louisiana. But as her daughter grows to maturity, she is forced to reconcile the values of the New World with the deeply-held pain of her past. The broadcast includes an interview about the life of Italian immigrants living on the Gulf Coast with Anthony Margavio, the co-author of “Bread and Respect: The Italians of Louisiana,” as well as a conversation with Tennessee Williams biographer Kenneth Holditch.
