L.A. Theatre Works’ Radio Theatre Series will air The Rose Tattoo, written by Tennessee Williams, directed by Richard Masur, and featuring Anthony LaPaglia and Mercedes Ruehl. The broadcast can be heard locally in Southern California on Sunday, January 27 from 8 -10 pm on KPFK 90.7 FM in Los Angeles (98.7 FM in Santa Barbara, 99.5 FM in Ridgecrest/China Lake and 93.7 FM in Rancho Bernardo/North San Diego), and can also be streamed on demand atwww.latw.org.
A poor Sicilian widow is raising her only daughter in post-war Louisiana. But as her daughter grows to maturity, she is forced to reconcile the values of the New World with the deeply-held pain of her past. The broadcast includes an interview about the life of Italian immigrants living on the Gulf Coast with Anthony Margavio, the co-author of “Bread and Respect: The Italians of Louisiana,” as well as a conversation with Tennessee Williams biographer Kenneth Holditch.
