 The Aftermath: Live Update on Hurricane Katrina’s Destruction and Damage of Indigenous Communities Pt. 3

We will be speaking with community representatives from First Nations devastated by Hurricane Katrina in the Louisiana areas. Certain communities are still* in need of assistance and have yet to receive any type of federal or state assistance whatsoever other than the donations directly donated by community members such as yourself.

Part 1:__________________
Chief Albert Naquin (Isle de Jean Charles Band of the Biloxi-Chitamacha Nation) and
Chief Randy Verdun (Bayou Lafourche Band of the Biloxi-Chitamacha Nation) and (pending: Donald Dardar, Vice-Chair of the Pointe-au Chien Nation).  All three community members will provide an update on the hurricane Katrina relief efforts, lack of assistance from state and federal agencies, and what people can do to assist them.

Georgiana Valoyce Sanchez (Chumash Nation) discusses cross-cultural exchange programs with the indigenous peoples of Malakia, Hawaiian and the upcoming Moompetam: A Gathering of the Salt Water People event being held at the Long Beach Aquarium (http://www.aquariumofpacific.org/NEWS_EVENTS/09_05/native.html) this September 24th and 25th, 2005.
