community activist, organizer of Indigenous Peoples Day, advisor to TonaTierra (www.tonatierra.org), and Co-Chair of the UNPFII Global Indigenous Caucus. Shannon joins us as the re-elected Co-Chair of the UNPFII Global Indigenous Caucus to provide listeners with a timely and critical update of issues raised and discussed by some of the world’s Indigenous leaders, representatives, and activist whom participated at the Global Indigenous Caucus over the past weekend; Shannon provides additional information and topical themes of this year’s United Nations 9th Session on the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII). The UNPFII (http://www.un.org/esa/socdev/unpfii/) is held from April 19th, 2010 to April 30th, 2010 in New York, New York.

Kathryn Ledebur, Andean Information Network (http://www.ain-bolivia.org/), joins us from Cochabamba, Boliva for this segment and discusses the World People’s Conference on Climate Change and Rights of Mother Earth happening from April 19th, 2010 to April 22nd, 2010. An estimated 15,000 people as well as representatives from over 80 countries are expected to participate in this conference; a juxtaposition to the failed state policies discussed at the Copenhagen Climate Conference in December 2009.

Kandi Mosset, Tribal Campus Climate Challenge Organizer of the Indigenous Environmental Network (http://www.ienearth.org/index.html) joins us for this final segment to discuss the recent activities in role at the Indigenous Environmental Network as well as her participation at the World People’s Conference on Climate Change and Rights of Mother Earth happening from April 19th, 2010 to April 22nd, 2010.
