Dr. Faviana Hirsch, Professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara,  discusses the continued struggle of the Mayan peoples in Chiapas. In the Zapatista communities, land continues to be a critical issue as again paramilitary forces are active in Mayan communities TRYING TO RETAKE lands that were RECUPERATED in the 1994 uprising. ZAPATISTA AUTONOMOUS COMMUNITIES are being threatened by PARAMILITARIES working for large land holders and multinational capital. Coyote Radio reporter Faviana Hirsch provides an in-depth look at the situation in our second segment.
