“Updates on Yangna (Tongva Nation) & the U.N.D.R.I.P.

Today on American Indian Airwaves, Cindi Alvitre (Tongva Nation) will provide listeners with an extensive update on Yangna (Tongva Nation) and the construction site of the LA Plaza de Cultura y Aretes Cultural Center in downtown Los Angeles, CA on 501 Main St. Two weeks ago, American Indian Airwaves had a one-hour special covering the illegal operations of the developer and involved parties desecrating Indigenous ancestors. Since then, other actions continue as well as uncertainties. Stay tuned for an update.

The second segment of today's show includes the second part of Tia Oros Peters (Zuni Nation), Executive Director of the 7th Generation Fund (http://7genfund.org/) and Tonya Gonnella Frichner (Onondaga Nation, Snipe Clan), former North American representative of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (http://www.un.org/esa/socdev/unpfii/), providing an update where and how Indigenous Nations are implementing the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (http://www.un.org/esa/socdev/unpfii/en/drip.html). Tia Oros Peters and Tonya Gonnella Frichner recently spoke in the Chumash Nation on January 7th, 2011 at the Unitarian Church (Santa Barbara, California) and sound from today's show is entirely from the 01/07/11 presentation.
