Arthur Manuel, (Secwepemec Nation), Spokesperson for the Indigenous Network on Economies and Trade, joins us for part 2 of this two part series on "Economic Turmoil: Imperial Economic Systems Impact of Indigenous Peoples and Nations." Arthur Manuel discusses various forms of economic systems (i.e. traditional vs. colonial), the Imperial global economy, and its impacts on indigenous peoples and their respective First Nations. Arthur Manuel is also one of the participatory panelist in the upcoming "15th Indigenous Environmental Network Protecting Mother Earth Conference: Answering Mother Earth's Call for Healing - Reaffirming Our Roots" being held this July 17th-20th, 2008 in the Newe Sogobe Nation.

Dr. Faviana Hirsch, In segment two we have a discussion of events in Chiapas, with Faviana Hirsch, Coyote Radio's senior Latin America correspondent. She details the Human Rights report recently released by an independent, non-governmental, European commission made up of lawyers, scholars, and members of civil society, The report from the International Civil Observation Commission on Human Rights has been collecting data and first hand reports since 2000 and the final report is a road map for the actions of the Mexican Government and the large landowners as well as the Paramilitaries in the service of those landowners.
