"Infanticide & Genocide along Colonial Borders, and Indigenous/Environmental Justice"

David Garcia (Tohono Oo'dham Nation), community activist, joins us for this segment of the show to discuss how, for over 8 years, he and other Tohono Oo'dhom community members have been providing water as humanitarian aid for immigrants and others passing through their traditional homelands that straddle the colonial border in Arizona and in Sonora. David and others were recently informed that the eight 55 gallon drums of water, available to anyone in distress, will soon be confiscated by US government officials. Furthermore, this past Saturday morning, Mike Wilson, of the Tohono Oo'dhom Nation, accompanied a former Presbyterian Pastor (who founded the Sanctuary movement), a University professor from Denver and 8 students were stopped by non-tribal police and informed that all non-tribal members were to leave immediately and not return. All this and more will be discussed in the first segment of our show.

Winona covers a spectrum of indigenous/environmental issues and work indigenous communities are doing to protect mother earth, ourselves and all relatives.
