A local group of activists from the Tar Sands Action - Southern California, based in Pasadena, are organizing folks in the L.A. area to fight the Keystone XL Pipeline.

The Congressional vote on the Keystone XL pipeline will take place next month. Congress is trying to fast-track approval of Keystone XL by attaching it to legislation extending unemployment benefits and the payroll-tax cut. This would impact L.A. County residents and business owners. The nation’s business groups are now dialing up the political pressure on the White House to approve the Keystone XL pipeline. The White House has promised to reject the rushed Keystone XL pipeline permit, but business interests are responding by threatening 'huge political consequences.
