LA Guitar Quartet + Phil Proctor – “Don Quixote”
Join the Grammy-winning LAGQ and actor Phil Proctor (of Firesign Theatre fame) in their only LA performance of “The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote: Words and Music from the Time of Cervantes”. It’s a special benefit concert sponsored by the Whittier City School Education Fund, to help raise money for the Libraries at Dexter and Edwards Junior High Schools. Kicking off a four-concert tour (including dates in Chicago, Richmond, and New York City), this unique show interweaves the timeless words of Miguel de Cervantes with the energetic and ethereal music of 16th Century Spain. Master actor/comedian Phil Proctor will play 12 different roles from Don Quixote, while vihuela and vocal masterworks will be re-interpreted by the popular Los Angeles Guitar Quartet. Suitable for the Quixote expert and neophyte alike, it promises to be a highly comical, entertaining, and enriching experience for all. And it’s for a good cause! The show will take place on at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at the Ruth B. Shannon Center for the Arts on the Whittier College Campus, 6760 Painter Ave., Whittier CA 90601. Call 562-907-4203 for tickets and information.
