Gary Baca, AUDIO ARCHIVE PAGE of The Pocho Hour of Power & G-Spot Show
Description: Audio archives of national and local Interviews from Gary Baca.
Baca brings the recording artist into your living room for a personal, and intimate talk to uncover the important music stories you’ll never hear anywhere else.
These interviews will share insightful stories with the icons of the biz. We talk to Ziggy Marley, Ray Parker Jr, Macy Gray, Sheila E, The Doors, Charlie Wilson, Johnny Mathis, Boy George, De La Soul, Bootsy Collins, Chaka Khan, Robin Thicke, Carlos Santana & George Clinton as well as the up and coming artist. Baca’s great gift is to have the artist feel comfortable and open up about themselves.
Baca was inspired to do interviews early in life by hearing a voice in the sky, 1970’s talk shows, and the short falls of uninformative commercial radio of the 70’s. He thought that commercial radio failed to find the human aspect of the artist behind the music. As a youngster in Oakland he would listen to radio stations day and night waiting to hear an interview from his favorite artist…but he never heard it and vowed one day to do the interviews, and to ask those important questions that we all wanted to know. So he has committed himself to interviewing producers, artists, singers and musicians to recognize the person behind the music and the secrets of song’s creation. Baca managed to document 6 decades of music with in-depth biographical interviews.
He also brings back some of the classic interviews from the vaults of his collection. He pays tribute to the legends by airing his intimate conversations with James Brown, Rick James, Teena Marie, Gil-Scott Heron, Roger Troutman (Zapp), Sugarfoot (Ohio Players,) Buddy Miles (Jimi Hendrix,) Lalo Guerrero, Ben E. King, Billy Paul, Maurice White (Earth, Wind & Fire) and Marvin Isley amongst others.
