Playwright Dava Sobel imagines the dramatic encounter between German mathematician Georg Joachim Rheticus who travels to meet Nicholas Copernicus, whose revolutionary work placed the Sun (not the Earth) as the center of the solar system, changing the course of our knowledge and understanding of the universe..

And the Sun Stood Still is part of L.A. Theatre Works’ Relativity Series of science-themed plays. Lead funding for the Relativity Series is provided by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, bridging science and the arts in the modern world.
