Many employers donate to KPFK for every hour you volunteer here. Some give you paid time off to do it. It costs you nothing but the time you have already given.
These programs go by different names at different companies. Dollars for Doers, volunteer grants, matching time, service credit. They all do the same thing: your employer writes KPFK a check based on hours you have already worked.
Type in where you work. The search tells you whether they have a program, what it pays, and links you to their form.
Check the other sections too. The same search shows whether your employer matches cash donations and whether they offer payroll giving, where a few dollars a paycheck comes to KPFK automatically. Plenty of people find they qualify for two or three of these at once. If you also donate to KPFK, the matching gifts page has the filing details.

A programmer who produces a weekly show has roughly 50 to 100 hours in a year before counting fund drive shifts.
This is the part most organizations leave blank. We don't.
Your volunteer hours are already recorded in KPFK's staff system, where you report them by task and the General Manager reviews and approves them. That approved total is what we certify to your employer.
To request certification, email matching@kpfk.org. Tell us your employer, the period they are asking about, and include the form or portal link if you have one. This is a new program and we will move as fast as we can on these.
If your employer's portal asks KPFK to log in and verify separately, forward us the notification the day you get it. Those requests expire, often in 30 days, and they die quietly if nobody answers them.
Your hours are recorded here because KPFK tracks unpaid staff service. That record does not reach your employer. To qualify for a grant you have to report the hours in your employer's own giving platform, in addition to what you already log with us. This trips up almost everyone.

Searching "KPFK" may not find us. KPFK is licensed to and operated by the Pacifica Foundation, and that is the name on our tax exemption. Look for Pacifica Foundation - KPFK. Any other Pacifica Foundation listings are our sister stations. The EIN above always works.
Please forward us your confirmation email. When your grant is approved, the money arrives from your employer's giving platform and does not always tell us which volunteer it came from. Forwarding the confirmation to matching@kpfk.org is how we know to look for it, and how we thank you.
Yes. Producing, editing, hosting, and engineering your program are all volunteer service.
Answering phones, helping with mail, working on or at station events, board operation, fund drive and membership support, and administrative and committee work.
Yes. The Local Station Board is a community advisory body, and service on it is volunteer service.
Ballot measure work, lobbying, and political campaign activity are excluded by most corporate programs, as activities. Keep those hours out of a grant request. Producing public affairs programming is not affected by this.
Ask us first at matching@kpfk.org. Some programs exclude grants tied to people the organization pays, and the rules vary. We would rather check with you than have you get rejected.

It varies and some are tight. Verizon's employee deadline is January 31. Intel's is December 15. If you volunteered this year, file this year.
Often months, and some programs pay out on an annual cycle. That is normal and does not mean anything went wrong.
