The Crump family is adrift and in trouble. Widowed Godfrey is under the spell of Sweet Father Divine, while his teen daughters, Ernestine and Ermina, immerse themselves in the illusions of Hollywood to escape racial prejudice. But things change quickly when free-spirited Aunt Lily shows up: Godfrey remarries a white woman, Ermina discovers boys, and Ernestine is torn between Communism and bebop. Playwright Lynn Nottage received the 2009 Pulitzer Prize winner for her play, Ruined.
Original music composed by Michael Vannice.

Host Donna Walker welcomes Director Cihan Sahin to talk about The Actors Gang latest production of "The Adding Machine." In a world of AI and robots, Elmer Rice's visionary classic from 1923 is more relevant than ever, warning of and satirizes a world where the future is NOW. Phil and Ted welcome author, radio personality, political progressive, Thom Hartmann for lively, urgent discussion on the state of the country and the world. In his latest book "The Last American President: A Broken Man, A Corrupt Party, and A World On The Brink," Hartmann addresses more than President Trump's past, but also America's future. As climate catastrophe accelerates and fascism spreads globally, Hartmann reveals the nightmare scenario: a second Trump term that doesn't just end American democracy but also triggers irreversible planetary damage. Through meticulous research and unflinching analysis, he shows how political cowardice and corporate greed created the perfect storm that could extinguish humanity's last chance at survival. Hartmann's book is available at kpfk.org as a fund drive 'thank you' gift with your pledge. Tune in and pledge!
