"Daniel Daronda" was the final novel of George Eliot (aka Mary Ann Evans). Adapted for film three times, it involves two parallel story lines in Victorian society, of social satire and spiritual searching. with the meeting of the two main characters, Daniel Daronda, discovering his Jewish heritage and Gwendolen Harleth, struggling in an unhappy marriage.
