Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein, or The Modern Prometheus" written in 1818, originally written anonymously, is one of the best known works in English literature. Through film after film, adaptation after adaptation, Mary Shelley's tale of a scientist who created life and was horrified by what he had made, the Creature lives on, along with endless discussions of man's attempt to create life and play God. From Boris Karloff's portrayal of The Creature to parodies like Mel Brooks' "Young Frankenstein" it has had a considerable influence on literature, popular culture, film and stage, sparking a complete genre of horror stories..
Recorded before a live audience at the UCLA James Bridges Theater in February 2020.
